FELIPE MASSA

FELIPE MASSA

Last Saturday, in the qualifying race for Hungarian Grand Prix, Felipe Massa, the Brazilian national Ferrari Driver met with a life threatening accident. He has already been operated, and is under the effect of sedatives. Still, the 1994 mishap in the F1 circuit is not completely forgotten from our mind. This one although a frisky one again reminded us about the threats associated with this highly risky but adventurous sport.
The F1 lovers and the fans of Ferrari stand behind his family in this time of crisis, and I wish Felipe a fast recovery, and hope to see him in track pretty soon.

SACH KA SAMNA

SACH KA SAMNA

Do you know Hindi, or I should translate the title for you. Anyways for your convenience, it is ‘Face the Truth’. Now it is the most sought after REALITY SOAP of our TRADITIONAL COUNTRY recently. I don’t know from where actually the CREATIVE HEAD of this show, got the idea for this. I really wish they had copied it from somewhere. No I really do so, because if it’s a product of India’s imagination, it’s very painful. We can expect this kind of voyeuristic creativity from the Uncle Sam, but not us. I might be sounding typical but still, lets live this makeshift belief, if at all it’s a false one.

Last week, while surfing TV channels, I bumped into this program. And believe in me, I was shocked. I didn’t know that world is really turning so strange, it’s almost not recognizable sometimes. Now, people will say that what’s wrong in it, we should know the truth. But the kind of truth they are dealing with that also in front of your family and in Television, is it really that necessary. I mean, I just can’t comprehend in the wildest of thought, that why the hell any participant would come and take part. Is it the money, I don’t know? I think India has thousands of other truths that should be dig, rather than finding which man have slept with which other women, or which women have fantasized which other man. Already we are having shows, to find your groom, or to loose your virginity and thousand other strange topics. Now this is the new one. Earlier, we used to visit pilgrimages to wash our sins, now I suppose it’s the reality shows, where you will be awarded with crores of rupees to wash your sins. Or I should say, not even wash; rather glorify it by showing it in a TV show. I don’t know about the married life of the newly wed man, who was contesting the show, but if they can continue after the show, I salute India’s Institution of marriage. No, I am serious. If a couple can withstand the show, their heart is made up of steel, and what else I don’t know.

Till now, whomever I have discussed have some sort of monetary gains from this show. But I don’t know who all are watching it, I mean pornography is still better than pleasing yourself with this kind voyeuristic pleasures. I really wonder, where this beautiful place, which we used to call world, is heading. I really wish, that some sort of a complete eclipse outweigh us, and form a ring of fresh life around us. Its very suffocating, we sincerely require a cultural eclipse for ourselves, that also a complete one.

Mayawati- STATUS and STATUES

Mayawati- STATUS and STATUES

Now, here comes my first post, because of which I have named my blog ‘worldzstrange’. And I am very happy today, as I have learned the meaning of status in life.

When, Ms Mayawati and her party Bahujan Samaj Party, the party of Dalits, cast their maya all over Uttar Pradesh, along with the dalits, all the middle class socialist people were in a jubilant mood. After all, she has done a revolution. Yes, there is no doubt about it, after all who would have thought that a dalit woman would become the queen. Oops, I am sorry, I mean will chair the most important seat of the busy heartland of India, the Uttam Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party are the two most powerful regional parties of U.P. Both are voices of poor people, and their leadership REALLY PROVES THIS. Now you would say, why I have written it in CAPITAL is there anything fishy in it? But no its not so, it’s a hardly vegetarian fact and just because of my Bengali root, you need not to smell any fish in it.

My B-School is also in Uttar Pradesh, and every week I used to drive from Delhi to Greater Noida, along with my driver a native of UP. Now out of my habit, I always talk to him about his village, his place and all. I find this kind of lecture quite interesting sometime more than my Marketing Lectures. We used to see a huge complex in making just at the junction of Delhi and Noida. I don’t remember what it was exactly earlier, but I suppose there were quite a large number of trees there. Now, it’s full of red stones, large troop of workers always in a hurry to finish their work. Rajesh, my driver always used to curse ‘they are spending so much of rupees in waste, where we don’t even have proper roads and electricity there at my village’. I used to think, that these people of India will never understand the importance of this kind of INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT, after all we are regularly taught about rural India, and rural marketing where infrastructure is such a big issue.

Now few days back, I came across news, which says that Ms Mayawati is spending some 2000 crore rupees in some statues and all. 2000 crores!!! I read the complete news; after all it’s a big amount. And then again re-read it!!!

Here I came to know that in a state wise program, Miss Mayawati (still an unmarried) as she has devoted her life for the poor people of India specially the Socially Backward Class people is building statues of Mr. Ambedkar, Mr. Kansi Ram and also herself just for a paltry sum of Rs. 2000 crores. Every one asking, why is so doing and a thousand why?

She says, the great leader, that to fight in parallel with the upper caste it is necessary that we build statues of us, the voice of Poor. And rightly so, I really support her, in fact it is the only way to climb the social ladder. How else a leader can achieve this, I don’t know. But still people are making a hue and cry about this. I must admit Ms Mayawati; it’s a conspiracy of upper caster people. After all you are spending the hard earned money of poor people only, so the upper caste rich people have no right to comment on this. And she is building lots of elephants also, the symbol of her party. ‘Bechare’ the tigers of Corbett, but if you go into depth this even it has a bigger meaning. She is uplifting the cause of elephants in front of the cruel tigers, the so-called king. Huh, as if…. But don’t you worry the poor people of India, Ms Mayawati has arrived and she will not keep any stone unturned to spend millions to make some even more statues, may be in marble stone this time. And what she is spending, only odd 2000 crores which is what, just one day earning of 20 crores Indian, where if you see the cause, it is so huge. Schools, Roads, Hospital, we can wait, but first we require status and for that statues are a must. Even look at the similarity between the two words, STATUS and STATUES!!! Foolish Rajesh, and all those drivers who say ill words about this project everyday, when they drive our cars beside this monumental Mayawati project in Noida. They will not understand the importance of this. As I said, India is a strange country here importance of people are felt only when they dies, so she is building statues in her life time to make others understand her importance. Wise lady, India is changing.

I am also thinking of building a small statue of myself in my Dhanbad’s home, beside the guava tree. This time when I will visit Dhanbad, I will make sure that I also look out for some red stones there, I don’t to want to waste time to elevate my status among the dead trees.
You also go and look out for some place to build a statue of yours. We are already late my dear, time is trickling very fast.

15, AND STILL COUNTING

15, AND STILL COUNTING

As such I am not a tennis freak, but not an alien to the sport too.
And from my early days, I don’t remember any player dominating the court with such authority. In fact except a few, no player has ever dominated any sport for such a long period, in this manner. But then its Roger Maestro Federer. The king of modern tennis. And the best thing for Roger is his constant introspection about his game. Already an icon in the world of tennis, he still does his homework in the same manner like a youngster. This kind of an attitude is really unbelievable, and I salute him from the deep core of my heart. He is a real legend.
When I was a kid, Pete Sampras used to be my favorite. The thing, which I liked most about Pete, is his cool and calm attitude. This guy is certainly a notch above in this parameter. The sudden emotional outbursts of Roger just prove that he is not someone from the space, but one of us only.
In fact in the epic final against Andy Roddick, I was astonished to find his grit and determination and the hunger for more. This was certainly a welcome gift for his expected wife Mirka, who is a real support for him throughout. In fact, the way she sat for the whole odd four hours in her 8th month of pregnancy, it seems she has already started giving their baby the first few lessons of lawn tennis.
Not only this, in fact Roger has promised his wife to play for few more years so that their child can watch him play. The grass court of Wimbeldon, will be waiting for another Federer to raise the mercury level in near future, till then we can enjoy some astounding tennis from the maestro himself.
